Victorian School-Child

I'm lucky to go to school, they say,
But I think I'd rather work any day.
If you're naughty out comes the cane,
After that you won't be bad again.
If we changed places I think you'd agree
That school's as bad as it could be!

For a time I was fascinated by Victorian times, in the way that many small children are fascinated by bugs and beetles because they repulse and disgust them. Personally, I've always found bugs and beetles quite beautiful, especially the shiny wing-cases some have and the faceted eyes...
