all is dust and ash
broken feathers in the wind
hear tiger's last roar

In the Great Wall of Southern Kamakura - Fragrant Wind Section, one chamber overlooking the interior is redecorated with blood and broken feathers. Slightly further along, the sigil of a black tiger is imprinted in the wood where their armour struck the ground, filled with a spreading red-brown stain.

It is clear that they went down fighting.

The last stand against the Cleansing Flame of Sek Ganaku happens along the Great Wall of Southern Kamakura - Fragrant Wind Section. Black Tiger and Reisei's Joy are peacefully minding their own business doing some target shooting with their pistols in the area, when the first ophidians were sighted and the great native army began pouring into the area.

Snatching up their ballistae, the brave soldiers went immediately to the walls, and opened fire once enough of the enemy were in range; but the walls were not designed to defend from attackers inside, and the avenging oni that ran with the Flame poured into the walls and murdered every last one of the defenders.

The end of the world reaches the Jade Province.

Despite the sacrifices already made to appease the Time of Destruction - the caved-in mines, the disassembled carpenter's workshop, the farm already earmarked for destruction - the end of the world sweeps in and destroys everything, under its scaled and chitinous feet, in its claws and mandibles and fangs.

The windmill - the warehouses - the colleges - the alcharium - even the beautiful garden, Rayhan's Lament.

The end of the world reaches the Temple of Lady Sky, and destroys it utterly.

There is nothing left but blood, and dust, and ash floating gently in the breeze, over the mockingly untouched watchtowers and Great Wooden Wall.

---

Just as you are relaxing into the routine of destruction, the empty-looking Great Wall of Southern Kamakura - Fragant Wind Section started shooting even more ballista bolts into the Hunapha ranks.

Fortunately, you aren't assaulting this wall. Getting everyone who can actually die out of the way, Opochtli and Blizzard lead the avenging eidolons into the passages honeycombing the great wooden walls. This group of defenders are much less well-prepared. The doors are not even barred; there are no traps, no false dead ends, no ambushing forces attempting to draw you away from the real quarry.

The quarry is not defenceless when cornered, however. The Black Tiger, a band of seven Kamakuran humans, are confident in their full steel armour, and drop their ballista firing to line up with spears and shields pointed confidently out. there would have been a lot more returning eidolons had Blizzard not casually broken their formation with a couple of incantations and drawn the majority of their attacks, the strong scales he wore under his armour easily taking the punishment.

Still, Opochtli and Blizzard take a moment to magically repair their armour before continuing, and five of their companions bleed from well-placed pistol shots.

The other ballista squad are all Rukhi; they attempt to scatter, but there are avenging eidolons throughout the entire wall area. One attempts to escape by climbing down the outside of the walls, but Opochtli sends a spear of acidic spittle in his direction, which surprises him so badly that he falls the rest of the way to his death.

Once the ballistas fall silent, Achelous ventures out to collect the Hunapha dead; two more of the Ten'Etzi Horde, one of the Warrior Lodge of Green Grass, two of the Warrior Lodge of Huaman's Daughters, three of the Warrior Lodge of Obsidian Reeds, and two of the Warrior Lodge of Xilbaba's Ruin. The facets seem inordinately distressed; they comb the grass for the remains of three missing members of the Creche Lodge of the Pit of Friendly Asps and one of the Creche Lodge of the Pit of Friendly Vipers, but their gems cannot be found.

The eidolons emerge from the walls once more, and chuck a couple of the sturdier Rukhi that have not quite finished bleeding out to Xanthan for proper disposal.

And the destruction of Southern Kamakura continues.
