Placeholder Attackers Report:

Summary Report of Warrior Unit 025, Western Advance:

On arrival in Winton we were confronted by a large force operating out of Asilio Bussola, at least four hundred enemy individuals. We attempted to perform a retreat while leaving the stinger snakes as an unpleasant surprise, but the enemy force was so great in number that it had already placed surrounding units in all obvious retreat positions.

We lost Stinger Nest 1; twenty-five of Warrior Unit 024; twenty-two of our own unit. The snake removal protocols we witnessed were well-practiced and utilised their eidolon allies; we estimate no more than twenty Flembic deaths.

[OOC: This is a placeholder battle report. There will hopefully be a real battle report later.]

Placeholder Defenders Report:

Sixty-five Azarch assault Winton. They swiftly attempt to retreat when the patrol from the Asilio heads out to confront them, but some elements of your force have already broken off to head off such a retreat, and forty-eight dead Azarch are duly recorded.

The excitement of the battle comes from the field of stinger snakes that they have left behind. Eighteen soldiers are lost in this discovery, but the area is then evacuated of anyone capable of suffering from poisons and the eidolons Mithril, Progress, Svava, Ire of the Huntress and Construct gradually clear the area of the camouflaged, deadly creatures.

Report of Warrior Unit 025, Western Advance, re: Retreat from Winton:

On arrival in Winton we were confronted by a large force operating out of Asilio Bussola, at least two hundred enemy individuals, including twenty-five commanders, lieutenants, NCOs and similar.

We attempted to perform a retreat while leaving the stinger snakes as an unpleasant surprise, but the enemy force was so great in number that it had already placed flanking units led by the Terino Marines Lady Julia Apuleius in all obvious retreat positions.

A small group of Warrior Unit 024 attempted to lay an ambush along with the stinger snakes; none of them returned from this attempt.

We lost Stinger Nest 1; twenty-five of Warrior Unit 024; twenty-two of our own unit. The snake removal protocols we witnessed were well-practiced and utilised their eidolon allies; we estimate no more than twenty Flembic deaths.

Defenders Report:

Charlotte Farnsworth sights another group of attackers; an unfamiliar group of Jeshur's myrmidons have just entered Winton.

There are only sixty-five of the enemy; the army marches in force, but some remain behind in the Asilio in case this is another diversionary attack. However, Cyril insists on taking the field again; he is still hobbling slightly, and weakened by the internal damage, but he has recovered significantly and it seems certain he will survive his poisoning experience.

This time, the army splits into equal parts to surround the enemy. The Terino Marines take Lysette Cooper's Expeditionary Forces and Terino Blues to the back right; Lady Isabella De Lefevre takes Anares Rufen, Jenet Elldene, and most of the rest of the Lower City types with Stefano Tito Demeo's troops to the back left.

Lady Julia Apuleius and around half of the remaining Upper City types take Captain William Bertram Millington's men and Lothar's musketeers to stand on the main left flank; Caterina Flambardi, Lord Drane Haversham, Cristian Di Rienzo and Chloe Durand take up the main centre with their own troops; and Virgil Apuleius, Patrick Kettering and Lord Simon Hartnell take the right flank with the rest.

The Flembic army of almost two hundred, not counting its officers, outnumbers the sixty-five Azarch warriors considerably. The Azarch notice this swiftly and attempt to retreat - but they run straight into the Terino Marines, which does not go well for them.

The excitement of the battle comes from the field of stinger snakes that they have left behind. Lord Simon Hartnell is the first to raise the alarm after several of his soldiers stop moving for no reason; the Flembics are becoming quite practiced in clearing the area of a suspected stinger snake attack, although Caterina's troops in the centre of the line have also unsuspectingly marched into the infested area and several of them are also caught in the trap.

The eidolons Mithril, Progress, Svava, Ire of the Huntress and Construct return swiftly from their various assigned areas, to attempt to contain the infestation; the New Montforte Golemics also join in, but they are the subject of an ambush from a small group of Azarch that have hidden themselves in the bushes. None but the eidolons dare come to their aid, and the Azarch manage to fight them to a standstill while a couple of their number crush the Golemics into rubble.

A few of the Azarch manage to scatter, but the vast majority - forty-eight warriors - are slaughtered, and the eidolons carefully hunt down every last stinger snake in the area.

They have taken a few good soldiers with them; the 2nd and 3rd Terino Blue have lost one apiece and the Expeditionary Forces a handful - two from A, two from F, one from E, one from D - many less than were felled in the desperate last stand of the Azarch, but the extensive medical training of the Terino Marines saved the lives of almost all of their casualties.

And the stinger snakes take their dreadful toll over the next few days, with one of the 1st Caldborn Regulars, one of the 1st Sabauda Infantry, one of the Asilio Scouts and one of the Flembic Rangers 1st Platoon Pistoliers joining the unfortunate last member of the 8th New Montforte whose paralysis gave the initial warning; but many fewer than in previous attacks by this method, thanks to calm leadership leading to a swift and orderly retreat from the danger.
